'The grandson of Marc Almond', according to Dutch music magazine 3voor12, grew up in a suburbia in the Netherlands in the 80s and 90s, feeding on a diet of synthpop by artists like Pet Shop Boys and Soft Cell, and eurodance by fellow Dutchies 2 Unlimited. He started writing songs during the short-lived but exciting electroclash era. When MySpace appeared, it proved a fruitful platform to bring his music to fellow outsiders from all over the world. He christened himself Ravage! Ravage!, borrowed eyeliner from a girlfriend and a month or so later he found himself performing songs such as Oh My Beau Gigolo and Screw You at new rave parties all over Europe, hearing his songs being used at the London Fashion Week, quoted in Brazilian fashion magazines, and remixed by fans all over the world. Not content with doing solo shows, Ravage! Ravage! became a band in the years that followed. As a band, Ravage! Ravage! released three EPs, supported by MTV playlisted music videos and two songs that went to number one on the Dutch indie charts. Since the demise of MySpace, the solo songs more or less disappeared, hence this compilation that collects the most popular - Oh My Beau Gigolo, Join Up For The New Young Pony Club, the most obscure - Velvet Grrl, and finishes it off with the best remixes, by the French bloghouse pioneers S.P.A. and Fredze Fred, and the Dutch now-illustrator Keukengerei.
