简介
Ras Mykkal Bio In 1998 Ras Mykkal became the first and only Bermudian artist to earned unprecedented attention for his sharp and thought provoking social/political lyrics about Bermuda’s under side. His out-spoken style of social commentary led to the down-fall of the 34 year reign of The United Bermuda Party government in 1998. His first two singles “Three Blind Mice” and “Rude Boy Inna De House” were pulled from radio airplay in an attempt to sensor his work as the November 9th election date drew near. Once the Bermuda Broadcast Commission could find no violations to the law, “Rude Boy Inna De House” would make history as the most requested “local” song in Bermuda’s History. In November 1998, Ras Mykkal released his first album (CD) “Bermuda’s First Governor”. In the year 2000, Ras Mykkal released his second album (CD) “Dem Call Mi Controversial” which showed lyrical growth beyond Bermuda and his ability to write about “local” issues with a broader brush to appeal to a wider more international audience. Reggae in general is a historically political genre, and dub poetry is probably the most political form of reggae, but Ras Mykkal may be the most political dub poet around.
