简介
Ras Mykkal Dem Call Mi Controversial Bermuda has never been confronted with an artist like Ras Mykkal in its 400 year history. The little British colony has only used its local musical talent to entertain the tourist hotels and night clubs industry. In 1997, when professional photographer Ras Mykkal entered a recording studio for the first time and released the album, “Bermuda’s First Governor”, The political establishment was not ready for his out-spoken musical commentary. One Member of Parliament labeled him “controversial” which prompted him to write the title track for his second album, “Dem Call Mi Controversial”. Ras Mykkal even acts the part of a Member of Parliament with the hit single “Excuse Me Mr.Speaker” as his speaks against drunk driving. With “Code of Conduct”, this outstanding artist strikes at the Westminster system of bad behavior by political leaders and he uses a speech by H.I.M. Emperor Haile Selassie to redirect them with “Politically Correct”. “And So It Go” is probably Ras Mykkal’s biggest international recording as it chronicles the shooting death of Amadou Diallo by four New York City Police. In 2002, The album “Dem Call Mi Controversial” earned Ras Mykkal, Bermuda’s Outstanding Artist of the Year” award. As Ras Mykkal continues to broaden his political world view with his poetry, his goal is to tour the world with his messages of political and social commentary. His third album, “The Palms of Ras Mykkal” is complete, but a release date has not been set as yet.
