Melody has said that she doesn't just write from the heart but from her subconscious. She laughs and says "It's so weird, sometimes I could be feeling something I never would have even realized if I hadn't just written that song". She is influenced by bands such as The Pretty Reckless, The Goo Goo Dolls, Nirvana, and Daughter.
