简介

In June of 1999, after leaving the C/Z Records based alt-psyche-rock band The Semibeings, Keith Monacchio assembled local Trenton, New Jersey musicians Chris Bellis, Sean Glonek, Tom McDonald, and Tom Kale to work on demos he had written away from his former band. Monacchio liked what he was hearing and began tracking at S.S. Sound Studios in Hamilton, New Jersey. The end product, Anchor, was released in the spring of 2000 garnering favorable reviews locally and regionally while pushing the studio project into becoming a full-time working band. Four years later with over 400 shows logged, two full-length albums, an EP, several compilations, and tracks in two independent movies, The Commons find themselves riding high on the release of their third and latest full-length offering Come On Get Gone. Come On Get Gone was recorded between April of 2002 and 2003 at Foerter Barn in Hamilton, New Jersey and Major Sound Studios in South Brunswick, New Jersey. Released in June of 2003, the songwriting and music illustrated on the album shows The Commons at their most mature yet simplistic level. Engineered and mastered by guitarist Sean Glonek, Come On Get Gone has been quoted as the band's most artistic and creative work to date receiving regional critical acclaim. Coming off the heels of a successful six-week radio campaign, Come On Get Gone has been added to the playlists of over 70 college and core radio stations up and down the east coast, and continues to track strongly at these stations. One of the biggest radio stations in the tri-state area, WXPN in Philadelphia, has picked The Commons as the feature track of the day six times. The band recently wrote a track entitled "Hot Rod, Mary & Me" for Resonating Pictures independent film Fast Cars & Babies. Written by Jon Cofinas, the film stars Gordon Clapp (NYPD BLUE) and was directed by Brett Hershey. In addition, The Commons recorded The Who's "Squeeze Box" for the upcoming Face Down Records compilation tribute to The Who, Who's Not Forgotten. Acts on the tribute include Guided by Voices, Pat DiNizio of The Smithereens, The Dipsomaniacs, and other artists. The band is also featured on another recent compilation release by WFMU in Jersey City, New Jersey. This compilation includes a live version of "Break, Bend, & Waver" from The Commons second full-length album Eat Off The Vines that was recorded on the Pat Duncan show in March of 2002. The Commons are currently touring in support of Come On Get Gone and working on material for their yet to be titled fourth full-length album. This looks to be a very exciting year for the band.
