The fact that I write without accompaniment (often while walking, driving, swimming laps or trying to fall asleep, etc.) ensures the creation of strong, "hummable"(and even dance-able) melodies. I write about a wide variety of topics, some from my own experiences, some from the experiences of others that move me. Although I occasionally write a straight-up love song or add to the "break-up song" genre, I figure my role is to focus on topics that haven't gotten as much attention. I am particularly drawn to the humorous aspects of this human life -- on the CD "Tiara" these include the dilemma of trying to figure out the right combo of socks and shoes to wear in order to be socially acceptable, the challenge of dealing with an overabundant harvest of the home gardener's favorite vegetable, and the title track, in which I pose the question: "Why not wear a tiara every day?"
