BABYSUE LMNOP: "Unashamedly sweet and catchy album full of totally upbeat pop tracks...Instantly appealing." www. LMNOP.com, www.babysue.com, www. dONW7.com FULL REVIEWS: Early Eurythmics meets Josie and the Pussycats! Drum machines and resonant analog squirts form the basis of this duo’s unapologetic anthems to the golden age of electropop. “Girl Boy Pop Toy” even admonishes “synthesizer haters” to come to a gig and be converted. The vibe is all about having too much fun to care if you look like a dork, and if you’re too cool for that, the joke’s on you. -Stephen Fortner/Keyboard Magazine June 2010 There’s nothing like this cartoon automaton symphony on any station, including Jack FM...It’ll be hard to suppress a smile listening to “Chop Shop Cop,” the should-be theme song to the most awesomely ridiculous non-existent police show ever. “Serial number instead of a name,” Jess croons over a beat that’s industrial in the same way the Village Person in the hardhat was a construction worker. “Supermarket Casanova” (sample line: “It’s boys like you who give checkout lines a new meaning … there’s a clean-up on aisle three”) is equally laughable. Though Hyperbubble’s music seems designed to double-dog dare you to take the band seriously, it’s not fair to call them a novelty act. Songs like “Teddy Bear Crime Wave,” UFO Beach Party,” and “Moogzilla vs. Korgatron” are purposefully light and juvenile, undercut by wackiness, and designed to move your feet, but they’re also subtly intricate, expertly produced, and fun as hell. In Hyperbubble world, the first step to any dance is getting over yourself. -Jeremy Martin / Current Magazine Feb 2010 As always, Hyperbubble brings the fun and the synthesizers while crafting clever dance pop. Even people who can't dance can be captivated by “Girl Boy Pop Toy,” “Teddy Bear Crime Wave” and “U.F.O. Beach Party.” -Jim Beal Jr./Weekender Magazine Feb 2010 From the look and sound of this package...we'd be willing to bet that the folks in this band are enjoying the hell out of themselves at this point in time. And it sure looks and sounds as if they're mainly in it for fun...which is, of course, the best motivation in the world. Candy Apple Daydreams is an unashamedly sweet and catchy album full of totally upbeat pop tracks that should be instantly appealing to children, teenagers, and adults. To our ears, this band's music sounds something like Madonna would sound...if her music were geared more towards school kids. Hyperbubble is Jess on keyboards and bionics and Jeff on synthesizers, sequences, and vocals. This band will undoubtedly drive artsy-fartsy type music fans up the goddamn wall (which is where they deserve to be). Clever cute cuts include "Candy Apple Daydreams," "Girl Boy Pop Toy," "Teddy Bear Crime Wave," and "Top Ten Lullabies." -Baby Sue / LMNOP March 2010 LMNOP.com, babysue.com, dONW7.com Bubblegum Records is proud to announce the release of Hyperbubble's new album, "Candy Apple Daydreams", twelve new rainbow pop confections from the photogenic duo consisting of Jess (vocals/synthesizers/synthdrums) and Jeff (synthesizers/sequencers/vocals). Like it's colourful cover art suggests, Candy Apple Daydreams is the soundtrack to a cartoon world of fifty foot drum machines and synthesizer patch bays that tower into the clouds. The album is a full fledged Moog mini-movie with an overture, main theme, reprise, climax, and epilogue, all tightly edited and propelled into the future at a dangerous speed from the moment of liftoff . As soon as the title track kicks in, Jess and Jeff invite the listener into their funhouse of go-go beats, TV cop show themes, alien soundtracks, cyberpunk, and future disco. "Girl Boy Pop Toy" is a spiritual/infomercial selling hypergoodies to the kids all around the world. "Mind the Gap" is an Underground dance craze featuring recordings made in the London tubeway. Jessica coos over a sexy secret agent in "Chop Shop Cop". "Pictures of Paradise", with it's telephone beeps and stereo surveillence cameras, celebrates that now everyone has become a star, thanks to closed-circuit television. In "Supermarket Casanova", Jess impersonates a self-checkout line robot over a shopping-trolley beat, as Jeff brags about landing a girl who buys him Little Debbie snack cakes. A chorus of kids sing along in the ritalin-fueled anthem, "Hyperactive", immediately followed by "Moogzilla vs Korgatron", a symphonic blast of space-rock which climaxes in a battle to the death between a Moog and a Korg synthesizer. After a brief pause to catch your breath, Jeff winds up his digital music box, while Jess counts pop stars to fall asleep, in the dreamy finale, "Top Ten Lullabyes". Simply put, it's the biggest, juiciest Hyperbubble yet. Hyperbubble's first album "Solid Pop", was the suprise indie hit of 2004, capturing the world's imagination with it's quirky tales of vending machines, psychic hotlines and singing cats.. On the harder, faster, follow up, 2007's "Airbrushed Alibis" Jess and Jeff explored the dark side of the bubble to critical acclaim. That same year, with the help of the pink vinyl "Supermarket Casanova" single, the band was endorsed by BBC Radio 1's Huw Stephens, leading to a UK Tour 2008. Once word got out that a couple of crazy American kids were running around England and Scotland doing stuff not seen or heard there since The Rezillos, The Eurythmics and The Bay City Rollers, label interest ensued and Hyperbubble signed with the Scotland's Bubblegum Records. Hyperbubble are currently playing a series of live dates in the US and Europe to promote the new album. In the meantime, Jess and Jeff invite you put on "Candy Apple Daydreams", climb aboard their day-glow UFO and leave your world behind.
