Alden's silly songs have delighted audiences throughout Maryland and beyond, where he performs in schools, libraries and festivals through Young Audiences of Maryland. "Totally Attached to His Head" serves up an earful of zany lyrics, peppy guitar thumping, funky bass, drums and sound effects as you sing along to "Ted the Rhino" and laugh out loud at "The Dog's Been Sending Me Spam." Ever since Alden's kids were, say, about this tall, he's been making up silly songs to amuse them. The kids are getting older now, so when he starts singing, mostly they just smile indulgently and try to slip out of the room unnoticed, but that hasn't stopped Alden from writing a fresh batch of silly songs especially for kids of elementary school age, which seems to be Alden's intellectual "sweet spot." Each one is mysteriously compelled to become the first one able to recite every word of the long list of ice cream flavors and add-ins with the same remarkable speed with which Alden plays and sings. Listening to that song always creates a frenzy of competition with lips flying and ears glued to the speakers. We can never play that one just once - we have to repeat it again and again in hopes of increasing the number of words per second escaping from their lips at each go 'round.
