Alden has been writing silly songs for children for many years. The first ones were just a fun gift for a niece, but he eventually got serious about being silly. Once he had kids of his own, he started writing them down, recording them, and singing them for his kids, and for family and friends. His first album "A Little Cow Music" was recorded with a hand-held recorder in the attic of his house. He began performing his original silly songs with Young Audiences of Maryland, traveling for the last ten years to elementary schools, libraries, festivals, and after-school programs to share the fun. He's improved his recording techniques and equipment, but his heart for silly songs remains the same.

About "Silly Songs with the Barnyard Bard":

One of Alden's live performances is a concert called "Silly Songs with the Barnyard Bard", performed for younger students across the state of Maryland. Several of the songs in the show are on this album, although here Alden's given them the full treatment of multiple instruments, sound effects and vocals. But Alden's show has plenty of other stuff besides singing, so there wasn't enough material for a full album. Alden set about writing some new farm-oriented songs to fill out the album, and he fell in love with the new ones too. Because he wasn't restricted by guitar and vocals only, he was free to experiment with electronic drum sounds and other instruments he can't perform live. Can you figure out which ones they are?
