简介
Long time Berkeley Singer/Songwriter Gary Lapow’s songs cover an amazing historical span. With a background in the New York Folk Music scene of the 60’s, Gary became guitarist for the SNCC Freedom Singers during the Civil Rights Era. In the 1970’s he was songwriter and lead male vocalist for the Red Star Singers, accompanist for his mentor, Malvina Reynolds, and a popular fixture of the Bay Area folk scene. His discography includes 5 albums for grownups and 9 CDs for children. Although for the past 30 years he has been known for his recordings and performances for children and families, he has recently been writing personal songs from the perspective of an older, seasoned lover of life, and an activist deeply concerned with the direction our country is heading.
