简介
Mike Gorman was born with a guitar in his hand in the middle of a blizzard in Buffalo, NY. He spent several years performing prog and noise rock in Western New York before commencing a pilgrimage to Arizona. Working as a stone mason and ranch hand, surrounded by desert and silence, he immersed himself in old American folk, country, and blues music. He traveled to New York City with his life in a guitar case and his guitar on his lap. Since moving to the metropolis his songs have become leaner and more dedicated to pure songwriting. Combining country western music and Tin Pan Alley jazz with pop sensibility and increasingly personal lyrics, Mike has stomped into the New York scene and played at such legendary venues as Don't Tell Mama, Banjo Jim's, and the American Folk Museum. He is a respected song crafter and one of the youngest members of the exclusive Jack Hardy Songwriting Circle that has been grooming folk musicians for decades. After releasing his debut album 'The Bridge out of Town' in 2008 he was greeted with comparisons to a variety of performers spanning from Woody Guthrie and Hank Williams to Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen. When performing live his notable musicianship and sincerity shines along with his kinetic foot-work and his charismatic sneer. Mike continues to write and perform and has been working on material for a new album in 2009.
