简介
Donny Richmond was at the forefront of the "Christian Country Music" movement of the 1990's, beginning in Nashville, Tennessee. In 1993, Donny was the very first of the new wave of "Christian Country" artists chosen to be included on the mainstream country music CDX compilation CD, sent to thousands of radio stations across the U.S., and internationally. Other artists appearing on the disc alongside "Ask The Man Upstairs" by Donny Richmond included Garth Brooks, George Jones, Wynonna Judd, and Kenny Chesney. Written by Donny Richmond and David Walker, "Ask The Man Upstairs" made history, charting in Christian Country, Country Gospel, and mainstream Country simultaneously. During it's original release in the U.S., the song reached #1 nationally on the Christian side, and #71 nationally on the country side. In 2007, upon re-release in Europe, "Ask The Man Upstairs" again hit both music fields, reaching #2 on the European Christian Charts, and topping the mainstream Country Music Charts at #1 England, #1 Denmark, #1 Austria, #1 France, #1 Holland, #1 N. Ireland, #1 Scotland, #1 Wales, #1 Malta, as tabulated by the European Country Music Association. The song also became the longest running #1 throughout Europe on the Ramgatie mainstream Country Music Countdown.
