I was born and raised in Switzerland into a ridiculously musical family, with 3 older siblings who were all playing in bands by the age of 14. There was always music playing in our house. My mum and dad loved Gospel and Jazz, Rhythm & Blues, French Chanson, Pop and Folk music. My siblings, on the other hand, loved everything else, from Rock to Disco, Soul, Funk, Reggae and World Music. I really had no choice but to listen to all of this growing up, so I danced and sang along, to everything, as long as it resonated with me. Being Swiss doesn’t just mean loving chocolate (which I do by the way) it means growing up with many languages. Mum spoke only Swiss-German with us, while Dad spoke French, so along with all the music I developed a very good ear from an early age and currently do sing in 6 different languages. I have been in many, bands but started out as a lead singer in my sister’s covers band at age 13. I worked as a session singer in Geneva, Switzerland and New Zealand and taught American Jazz Dance to young students in Wellington, New Zealand, I have completed three world tours backpacking in Asia, Central/America and North America, teaching scuba diving in Thailand and Indonesia, dancing at the 'Broadway Dance Center' in New York, and performing in a large number of shows throughout Switzerland and greater Europe. I was so blessed to be performing as a singer and Hip Hop dancer in many countries, including Europe, Mexico and North Africa. Mexico was a watershed country for me. I had my first cultural crush and still think I must have been Mexican in another life, but that’s another story. I followed one of the 'Hard Rock Cafes’ resident rock bands to Acapulco, Cancun and Puerto Vallarta for nine months and fell in love with Mexican music. It was an epiphany! I didn’t just fall for the hits but for traditional folk music too - the Mariachis, the 'Rancheros', and the classics of Mexico’s Golden Age. I wanted to learn and sing them all. My heart must be nomadic, because I’ve traveled, lived, worked, and felt at home in so many places around the world. For my musical style, I am pretty nomadic as well; I have been exposed to so many beautiful genres throughout my life and as long as the music comes from the heart and soul, I will love it. In New Zealand I’ve performed with notorious Wellington salsa bands, as well as singing at The International Salsa Congress which took me back to my Mexican roots. A vocalist for The David Feehan Band for many years, I have been privileged to work with a wide range of songwriters and musicians in the Wellington region. In 2014 I recorded my first Jazz Album ‘Introducing...Coco Favre’ which was a great way to capture all my favourite Jazz songs on one album. Go check it out… I am currently working on my first EP with original songs alongside my husband and daughter who are both spirited musicians as well. On top of songwriting and performing, I teach vocals privately from my home studio which brings me a tremendous amount of joy. ‘Heart of an Angel’ is my first original song, co-written with my beautiful daughter Kira who was only 10 years old at the time.
