简介
A short instrumental Mediterranean surf-rock concept debut album, consisting of nine original tunes. This album describes the adventures of band members on their way to Danger Beach – a real secret and mysterious surfing spot, told through short themes that sound, as if they were taken from the mid-60′s movies. The album was self-recorded by the band in a mobile studio built in Zohar’s Garage, yet it has a great pure and authentic sound. Some of the tracks use the traditional surf guitar-organ-drums sound, while others combine this section with traditional middle-eastern acoustic instruments such as the mandolin, accordion, darbukas, horns and violins. "[...] While the influences are coming in from all over the shop, RPS Surfers have a sound which is lively and coherent [...] They expertly manoeuvre their way through various surf tropes with a cheeky glee which it's hard not to get on board with. If I saw these guys live I would dance my arse off. Great stuff!" (Norman Records review) " [...] I had never heard a surf album quite like Danger Beach from anywhere on the planet, if a surf record is indeed what it is at all; I simply know it’s all killer, no filler from front to back. [...] From the moment the needle drops on Danger Beach it’s evident that while RPS Surfers are both incredibly talented and extremely interested in classical surf and it’s roots, they’re completely uninterested in being confined by the predetermined notions of what one of those songs should sound like" (Roman Dean Rathert, "It's Psychadelic Baby" magazine) From the LP's back cover: - The Surfers - It's time! Get ready to ride the perfect wave with the exciting sounds of the RPS Surfers! The swell is coming! So wake up and grab your old longboard to join RPS Surfers on their bold journey to the DANGER BEACH - where the brave surfers enter an underworld of mystery. There are rumors that the radical waves in this place are created by a terrifying sea monster that feeds on surfers' flesh and blood. The legend also says that the surfer that will survive the encounter with the fish will gain the ultimate ride. Reaching there is not easy. You can't just drive to the isolated beach. Prepare yourself for a long barefoot walk on the hot sand and rocks. Right behind the cliff the magic and mystery are revealed to the brave surfers. - The Rock - From a long distance we can hear the waves crashing loudly on the pier of the DANGER BEACH. We are all excited to arrive at our private, secret spot again (ignore the "Locals only - gringos beware" signs. we are all soul surfers here). It seems like a lifetime walk but don't give up, right behind that ROCK we can see the surf break. - The Paper - Finally, the beach with all its glory is revealed and it's going off! Our dreams have come true and the waves are rolling in. While going into the salty water everybody prays "POSEIDON MAHALO", hoping for success while riding these killer waves without being folded like soaked PAPER. A space-y wetsuit is glittering in the distance beyond the waves. This can't be real... has the SILVER SURFER come to catch some mediterranean waves? We already heard the rumors spread by our surfing brothers on the beaches of GAZA. - The Scissors - Suddenly, a grey cloud blocks the sky. Frightening voices are rising from the depths - something is happening beneath the water surface! We all recall the legend and start pissing in our wetsuits. Can it be true? We can't believe our own eyes - a big strange fish is rising from the sea towards the sparkling surfer just in front of us! It's the silver surfer and he is fighting the beast with his bare hands. He scratches the monster with his fingernails like they were SCISSORS and its blood is sprayed all over his shining board. The beaten and defeated creature retreats to the sea, the clouds are scattered, and a sun beam is sent from above to take the silver surfer for his final SURF INTO THE SUN.
