简介

It all started in 2003 in Long Beach, NY when Fil Coolins and Bootleg Gandhi, two pals with a shared interest in punk rock music, minimal musical talent, and love of Rheingold Beer decided to give it a shot and started playing some of their favorite songs together with some sort of instruments and beer. After pissing off the entire west end of Long Beach with their nonstop onslaught of awfully performed punk rock cover songs, it became clear that a real full band must be formed, and these cover songs along with some newly penned originals need to waxed and available to the general public. For such a feat to even be plausible, Fil and BLG asked their friend the Wetsaw Bandit if he'd like to play bass and sing some stuff. The Wetsaw Bandit agreed to play bass, but insisted that his roommate Squid Lee take on vocal duties. No one had ever heard Squid Lee sing, but all agreed on this proposition and Filthy Twolips were born. The band's first recordings were compiled on the now super rare "Chicken Fried Steak Demo" which consisted of home 4-track recordings and live performances. After distributing about 30-40 of these demos and receiving decent feedback, the band had to get into an actual recording studio and drop some tasty treats for their fans. What transpired over the next few weeks in West Babylon, NY would turn into the band's debut studio EP "Semen of the Crime." The EP contains some of the band's most revered tracks, including "Gimme Gimme VD Baby" and the original studio recording of "Tom Sizemore." After recording the EP and playing a few shows in support of it's release, Filthy Twolips decided it was time to record a full length album. At this time Squid Lee became overwhelmed by the fame and fortune, as well as the grueling touring schedule. With over 1 show every 2 months it is very understandable. Squid Lee resigned as singer and the remaining members hit the studio as a power trio. Now as a power trio the guys had to figure out who would be lead singer. With no clear cut favorite in sight, the band would split vocal duties on "Workin' A Broad" their debut studio full length album. Each member sang leads on various songs on the album. The album was a worldwide success, selling over 8 copies to such countries as Belgium, Canada, and the United States of America. With such a successful album, the guys began to receive recognition for their accolades. At this time Fil Coolins had also been filling in sporadically for the world's best Ramones tribute band "The Ramoones." At the end of 2007 the Ramoones drummer had retired and Fil was asked to stay on permanently. This was not an offer to pass on, Fil had to take it. Unfortunately for Filthy Twolips, drumming in the world's greatest Ramones tribute band didn't leave much free time for other projects. Filthy Twolips played their "Last Show Ever" on March 28, 2008. It was now 2010 when Fil Coolins himself retired from the Ramoones and became a free agent. A few months later Fil inquired about getting together and playing some old Twolips songs just for fun and to catch up with rest of the guys. After a few jams everyone was having a great time and wanted to play a show. The band performed at a halloween party and played an entire set of Misfits songs with Bobby Banton singing lead vocals. Many scheduling conflicts then ensued and the band didn't have another show until 2012. Flash forward to 2015, the band had played 5 or 6 shows since getting back together and also started writing new tunes. With almost 15 new songs written, they decided it was time to drop a few down and release a new EP. In December 2015 the band hit the studio and recorded their first new music since 2006's debut album "Workin' A Broad." "Get Moist" is the culmination of lots of hard work and beer. The five new songs on "Get Moist" represent the band at their finest. Three minutes and 45 seconds of their best material to date. With piles of guest appearances, you will not be let down.
