简介
"A song you may never have heard, but if you're a GI you've heard it" . . . Bob Landers, WNEW, NY. Stan Zabka and Don Upton were Page Boys at NBC in 1951 when they wrote their first published song,"Christmas Eve in My Home Town." Called back into military service during the Korean War, Zabka showed the song to Pfc Eddie Fisher who recorded it for the American Forces Network (AFN) where, in 1953 it became the most requested Yuletide song in Europe. Kate Smith, Bobby Vinton, Jim Nabors, The Living Strings, "Satchmo" (1st Inf. Div. Korea), and others followed with their special versions. In 2007, along with Kate Smith's special Yuletide message to our Armed Forces, AFN labeled it "The Soldier's Christmas Song," and broadcast it to over one hundred countries and ships at sea, wherever our troops are stationed. Zabka and his wife Nancy now make their home in Grass Valley. Besides doing the lecture circuit, Stan now entertains senior citizens at retirement and other venues. He and Nancy have three children, Judy (retired teacher), Guy (songwriter and executive with World Vision), and William Zabka, best known for his movie role as Johnny Lawrence, the Cobra Kai bully in The Karate Kid.
