简介
There once was a girl who used to sing to the trees. There was a boy who honked a horn in school bands and taught himself guitar. There was another girl who learned piano the hard way. Day after day after day. Then yet another boy who held a toy guitar at five years old and knew his passion. These four children found each other and Heartstrings the band was born. Easily bored, they constantly learn new skills to make new sounds while refining long held talents. They have shared their fun brand of music with select audiences for over 20 years. Now they share with you. Have fun ! Heartstrings is........ (in order of their joining the band)... Donnie Caviness Producer and arranger, songwriter, vocalist, and musician. He plays the guitar, base, drums, clarinet, saxophone, keyboard, harmonica, and percussion. Carol Caviness Vocalist and plays percussion instruments. Carmela Adams Songwriter, vocalist, Classically trained pianist. She plays piano, Keyboard, ukulele, and percussion instruments. Don DiCicco Songwriter and musician. Don plays guitar, sitar, native American flutes and other flutes from around the world, hammer dulcimer, mandolin, pedal steel, and percussion instruments. He is an accomplished guitarist who can play in every style. The Dreamer album is new music written by the band members. All instruments were played by the band members. The Dreamer (Title song) was written as a collaboration between Donnie and Don. Donnie wrote the words while Don wrote the chord structure and musical premise of the song. The song was inspired by that strange world we enter every time we fall asleep. Donnie handles the lead vocals. Carol does a beautiful job with her contribution that truly takes you to dreamland. Don's guitar work has a great vintage feel. Donnie said the song revealed itself like uncovering a buried treasure. The Legend Of Paco was written by Donnie about the family Chihuahua. Little Paco loved to slip away and run the streets a lookin for the ladies. The little sneak would just disappear in an instant! Donnie handles lead vocals. Don's guitar work adds great spice and excitement. You Know That I Do was also written by Donnie. The idea was a throw back sound to say 1966 or so. Carol does a beautiful sweet job with the vocals backed up by her husband Donnie. Don adds really beautiful lead guitar work Donnie is on the rhythm guitar. The interplay between Don on lead guitar and Donnie on base shows how much the two of them enjoy working together, Three Little Words is a nice cute song written by Carmela. She does a beautiful job with the vocals and plays the ukulele. Donnie and Carmela worked together to get a nice happy sound. Don added some very interesting "Beatle-ey" flute and wah guitar. Stingray is about , oh let me see......A ride in a 76 Corvette Stingray ! Donnie has a yellow t-top 76 Stingray so there it is .Donnie wrote the words and music. He handles the lead vocals and actually ids playing all the instuments himself using ,ulti-track recording. Carol got to contribute the most necessary part... The title word Stingray! Bearclaw. It was written by Donnie. The inspiration was time spent in the woods cutting trees for firewood both as a boy and now. Having a cabin on a mountain where Black bear live staying alone on occasion brings out things like this song from a man. Up there with a guitar practicing pick and rolls a very 30s sounding riff was born that you can hear if you listen closely. Donnie and Don played around with the old timy riff and more modern lead guitar for quite some time before they found this natural groove. Donnie plays the acoustic Guitar and Don the lead. The vocals are Donnie. Memory Of The Heart was actually the first song recorded for the album. The words were written by Don about friends and family lost to death. Donnie wrote and arranged the music. The original direction was a blue grass type ballad. Then the idea came that anger and other powerful emotions come with such great loss and a different feel started forming up. With that understanding we are sure you will feel this song. A Hug The words for this contribution were written by Carmela and Donnie. The idea was Carmela's. She had been working with some lyrics and had a sound idea. (catch the shameless pun?) She wrote the first verse and Donnie the last. Donnie formed up the melody and sings the vocals. Donnie and Don are playing guitar together. Donnie on a brush/pick and roll and Don on lead. You can clearly hear them working together and interweaving harmonies and sub melodies with their guitar work. Its a short little offering that has something to say about genuine love. Down By The Sea is what happens when Donnie is trapped in the music room for a weekend due to a snow storm. Except for the mandolin Don contributed, Donnie is playing all the instruments using multi-track recording. Don was impressed with the depth of the work and just could not stand by and not join in. Donnie thought his addition added some really great flavor he did not even realize was missing. Free! Free was written by Don in the middle of the night while staying with Donnie at his mountain cabin. He used Donnie's experiences and daydreams to write about a dream they both share. Donnie and Don wrote the music together. Once they got going, they found themselves on the same page and working as if with one mind. Don does some terrific lead guitar work. Donnie handles all the vocals. Incidentally, Donnie almost drove Carol crazy singing AAHHHHH a million times in the studio. We believe everyone wants to be free and really gets this song!
