Label boss Dave Greenhouse kicks off No Theory's journey with a heavy hitting two tracker entitled "mindpower". The opener "traveller" is a groove heavy stomper with a great layered spacey synth. This has some great filtering which seems to make it slide smoothly in and out giving the track a nice trippy feel. The percussive elements add richness and strangely pitched pads arriving later in the track add more tension, making this one perfect for the darker rooms. Track two "mindpower" continues in the same vein. This time a heavily processed acid line is the main feature, which at first seems to float through the track. But with subtle pattern changes and some inspired processing the acid line becomes a gritty, darker focal point. Crisp and stuttered percussion add another great layer to this already heavy track.
