简介
“Yeah, See?” is the first of what will be an albums worth of songs originating from just the trombone and Protools. No synthesizers, no pre-made beats, no drum machines, no guitars. Just my horn (or parts of it….) and a microphone. Everything is from scratch. It started when my old electronic equipment started to break-synthesizers, drum machines, D/A interface, ect. I had some ideas running through my head for some new music using electronic gadgets and my horn, guitar, synth drums, and other things, but since my equipment was old and breaking, I thought I needed to buy a lot of gear to get up and running again. After lengthy discussions with my wife, Chieko, it was difficult to justify spending thousands of dollars on equipment with money being so tight. Then one day she had this idea: “why don’t you use what you have, your trombone!” Well, that really got the ball rolling on this current project, “Electrombonica. (I’m still not sure of the title yet. Suggestions?) I decided to try and create groove music using just my trombone and Protools. With some imagination, I searched for as many varying sounds that I could create from my horn, using it in some usual and not so usual ways, and beats and grooves started to form from the sounds. In January of this year (2013), I set a goal to have five songs done by May. Right now (May 22nd), I’m working on my fifth song. The outcome is some truly original sounding music that’s fun to listen to, and hopefully will make heads turn!
