I love this album so much that Centrifuge asked me to write a review for the album for them to use for the album description. Centrifuge opts for an ethereal ambience on this album compared to their edgier and dark sound of their first release, "Separation of Matter." Their influences of mid 80s alternative rock and 70s psychedelica are evident throughout. The album opens with "Crawlspace," which seems to bridge where they left off with "Separation of Matter" and into "bipolar." The real standouts on this album are the second track, "Glow," along with "All's Good." "Rise," "Lizard Jam," "Hydroplane" and "Disorder/Detached." "Glow" presents an unorthodox rhythm guitar track overlaid with a beautiful lead that summons pictures of a warm summer sunrise. The synth at the end of the track lends to the spacey and other worldly feel to the song and it works. Space Rock influences are abound in the next track, "All's Good." The synthesizer circles around you accompanied by another beautiful lead guitar that floats softly through the track. Fans of early Spiritualized will be fond of this ethereal masterpiece. The best track on this album is "Hydroplane": a hypnotic river of sound that flows through your soul and drowns you with its refreshing melody. The album concludes with the 11 minute epic "Disorder/Detached." The song opens with a haunting keyboard line that rushes you down the hallways of delusion. It then reprises "All's Good" but with an edgier and spacier sound than the album's third track. "bipolar" is a spiritual journey that will not disappoint. You have to listen to it in headphones to fully appreciate the subtle layers that make this album the most refreshing collection of new music I have heard in quite some time. - Cecilia Franks
