Her newest album, SEVEN, tells a story from beginning to end. Featuring a blend of blues and rock, SEVEN offers a biographical glimpse of lessons learned and life experiences for Amber Lynn. It was funded on Kickstarter and recorded in Nashville, TN at The 515 Studio. Amber Lynn Nicol co-wrote and produced the album with Nashville songwriter and session drummer Tim Grogan, who played drums on her previous albums. “Through my own life, and by observing others, I have noticed that romantic relationships are often derailed by one or more of the seven deadly sins (which are wrath, greed, sloth, pride, lust, envy and gluttony),” Amber Lynn explained. “Love is beautiful. It is what we all desire, yet in many cases it starts out wonderfully and then succumbs to one or more of these sins.” SEVEN represents a departure from Amber Lynn’s first two albums. “Beach Day,” a five-song EP, was released in 2011. “Broader Horizons,” her first full-length album, debuted in late 2012. Those titles emphasized country rock. SEVEN brings Amber Lynn Nicol into her natural comfort zone, which she defines as blues-influenced rock. Inspired by blues, classic rock and acoustic music, Amber Lynn’s influences include Stevie Nicks, Bonnie Raitt, Kacey Chambers, Sheryl Crow, Jewel, Melissa Etheridge, Jim Croce, Tom Petty, The Eagles, AC/DC and Led Zeppelin. “Rock and blues is where my heart is,” said Amber Lynn, who plays the guitar and also some piano, percussion, and bass. “When I was 5, I played my mom’s records and would try to imitate the rasp in Janis Joplin’s voice. I wanted to be just like Janis Joplin. She had soul.”
