Songs on LALA are the words of a succubus: part woman-part monster. Lala lives in a cave and sequesters herself to protect the world from her capacity for destruction. These songs exist within this cave, which is also a cage. The cave is dark and cold and very wet. She is a walking fireball and does not feel at home here. I went searching for Lala's cave in a volcano and bathed in her flames. I was baptized in her spring and hung my clothes from her aerial roots. And now, you see there is no place for us: we are the owners, the bountiful, the master of the ground, the occupying dweller, and the queen of the corpse we haunt. Here human life is a reliquary. I didn't write these songs with the intention of them being about Lala, or from her perspective. I only realized that they were after the fact.
