After a childhood spent listening and learning to appreciate many different kinds of music, especially Jazz, Dave’s career as a guitarist began in his mid teens. Backing American Soul Artists (Ben E King, Arthur Conley, Percy Sledge, The Platters etc.) on tour in the UK and Europe he schlepped up and down motorways in the time-honoured fashion. He was with The Real Thing when their first No 1 hit broke (˜You To Me Are Everything’) At this time he met Nigel Martinez, who went on to produce for Motown - they have remained good friends and get together to record on Nigel's projects from time to time when he visits the UK. In his time Dave has has been involved with Gospel music both live and in the studio - including a song with Stevie Wonder on Charlene’s single ˜Used to Be.’ Eventually he felt the need to go back to the woodshed and reshape his chops, turning again to Wes Montgomery, Johnny Smith, Tal Farlow and Hank Garland as well as contemporary players like Pat Metheny. His secret love for choral music became evident when he started to write his own compositions involving vocal arrangements rich with harmonies embedded in tight grooves and changing chordal structures. Running Salvador’s Jazz Club in London's Notting Hill, Dave booked and jammed with some of the UK’s top players, including Alan Barnes, Dick Pierce, Jim Mullen, Kathy Stobart, NYJO, and old acquaintance John Ethridge... After a spell of writing and recording and a brief flirtation with the pop chart, The 90’s found him playing Jazz Duos, and spending time in Miami Florida. Back in England he played on Josie James’ album Candles and backed her at her UK appearance at the Jazz Cafe. At the same time he was beginning to write and record ambient music, which has been very successful and is sold all over the world. In the noughties he has been found playing in Paris (the famous Duc de Lombard Jazz Club) and around London, while developing the ideas which became the Red Hat album - a CD of his own tunes distilled from his long love affair with the guitar. Dave already has five ambient albums to his name which have sold worldwide.
