简介
I am a TV journalist by profession, a songwriter by passion. They have a lot in common. But while my news stories must be true and accurate, my songs only need to be true. I change names, conflate timelines and invent scenarios at will. But emotionally each of these songs is true. Unplug is my first album...a collection of songs representing different stages of my life. From the young teenage days of "Driving me Crazy", when I overlooked "Daisy's" annoying "dashboard drumming, air guitar strumming and off key humming" to find the "beautiful and wild" girl that was really "driving me crazy"... to meeting my soulmate in "The History of Love" and "My Favorite You", to my children in "Used to be My Baby" and "She'll Find Her Own Way"...to my relentless efforts to "Unplug" and retire to my "Mancave" where I can slip into a "Mexicoma".. and finally to my dilemma of trying to figure out how to "get down off that bull" at the "End of the Ride". "Unplug" also contains a very special song dedicated to my granddaughter Scarlet. She is 99.9999% perfect. But the absence of one tiny gene has left her in a wheelchair without the strength to lift her own hands. Its called Spinal Muscular Atrophy. Its kind of like a childhood version of Lou Gehrig's Disease except instead of striking at the end of a long life SMA strikes at the beginning of a short one. Despite the genetic disease Scarlet is brilliant and will accomplish great things...with just a little help. My song "I Will Walk for You" is my promise to walk, crawl, carry and climb for her in exchange for her promise to fly for me. I produced a music video to go with the song in September 2016. It has been viewed more than a quarter million times. I have heard from thousands of people who care for loved ones with Alzheimers, MS, MD, Autism and more. They tell me I have written an anthem for those of us who take that extra step for someone unable to do it for themselves. My wife and I are on an ambitious mission to raise nearly a million dollars to build a playground near Scarlet in Michigan where kids of all abilities and disabilities can play together. We find integration breeds understanding. So, every penny from the sale of "I Will Walk for You" (including a dollar from an album download) will go toward that mission. Thank you for considering my music...my stories...for your collection. As a lifelong TV journalist I have rightfully and regretfully earned the rap as "the bearer of bad news". But I can assure you my songs celebrate the good, the kind and the humility in life. And in my songs nobody dies.
