Moving to Australia, she studied piano with Marta Clare and later with Alexander Sverjensky at the Sydney Conservatorium. From the age of 11 she played in studio broadcasts, public recitals and concerti for the Australian Broadcasting Commission as well as chamber music performances for Musica Viva. Scholarships for further study took her to England and Europe, amongst her teachers being Louis Kentner, Paul Hamburger and Albert Ferber. Making London her base, Julie Adam performed throughout the UK , in Europe and the US in festivals, music societies and universities. In London she was frequently to be heard at the Wigmore Hall and on the South Bank. She broadcast regularly as a soloist for BBC Radio including live ‘Concert Hall’ recitals. She also worked extensively as chamber musician and accompanist. Since her return to Australia, Julie Adam has continued her musical activities, broadcasting for the ABC, giving recitals and concerto performances, taking part in chamber music, teaching extensively, adjudicating eisteddfods and coaching young musicians. She has been guest artist with many groups such as Symeron, Sydney Alpha and the Song Company. Her CDs on the ABC Classics label have received critical acclaim. Available at present are: The Complete Piano Works of the 20th century Swiss composer Frank Martin (solo, and duo with Christine Logan); and the Mozart Sonatas arranged by Grieg for 2 pianos (with Daniel Herscovitch). Recently Julie Adam has been exploring the remarkable lesser known piano works of Leopold Godowsky.
