简介： Dating back to his childhood, Ed Prosek’s moxie for creating music that is both fantastically original and strikingly personal has always been apparent. In 2010 he found himself uprooted from the sweeping shores of his native California, eventually settling on the far more tepid beaches of Brighton, England, where he is currently based. The son of an Opera composer, his musical prowess emerged from a formal classical background, including years of study at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and a stint with the notable Magik*Magik Orchestra. Heavily inspired by Magik*Magik’s folk/classical mashup style, Prosek’s work soon rid itself of any stylistic singularity, shifting to an entirely new sound through a convergence of his previously bracketed classical and folk interests. Firmly rooted in his classical foundation, his current project seamlessly interlaces classical overtones with a savvy pop sensibility, culminating in an orchestral folk sound transcending the boundaries of genre. Written for a seven-piece accompanying band consisting of acoustic guitar, mandolin, piano, and a string quartet, his most recent work, namely the singles “Elena” and “California,” reach new heights in their visceral expression of emotional gravitas. These songs, as well as those featured on his forthcoming EP, California, due for release in May, stand as fleeting catalysts of the savior vivre.
