简介：Alyssa Baker is a 16 year-old, singer-songwriter, who discovered her passion for music at the age of 6. Ten years later, she is a seasoned performer with an ever-increasing list of credits. As radio host Jamie Cessford put it, "Alyssa is a young music guest who's about to blow your mind!" Alyssa's debut EP, to be released in March of 2014, introduces audiences to her quirky, Indie-pop, folk-rock style. Together, the four original songs featured tell the story of a relationship in a way that is uniquely Alyssa. Produced and mixed by singer, songwriter, producer, Winston Hauschild, (Hey Ocean, Hanna Georgas, Bodhi Jones, etc.), these tracks are the result of a true collaboration. Alyssa came to Winston with a set of songs, and Winston, as Alyssa has said many times, “Was able to capture, in the studio, the ‘Alyssa’ in all of them.” Her first single, I Like You...or Something, released on January 15, 2014, is a quirky love song that showcases this partnership, and Alyssa’s unique brand of awkwardness. 2013 was a busy year for Alyssa. As well as spending time in the studio, Alyssa performed over 35 shows in Vancouver and on Vancouver Island. Highlights include: The Late, Late Show of Vancouver’s IGNITE! Youth-Driven Arts Festival, “Featuring Vancouver’s best young musical talent”; performing in the singer- songwriter evening of Vancouver's inaugural Safe Fest music festival, where she shared the bill with notable local musicians Luca Fogale, Rolla Olak, Skye Wallace, and others; performing a spotlight, featured artist set at the Momentum Youth Arts Festival at the Massey Theatre; opening for the Kate Kurdyak Band; and placing 4th in the PNE Star Showdown youth division (over 350 acts competed). With an eye to local and global social issues, Alyssa donated her time to perform in a four-concert series for STAND, a not-for-profit organization striving to end hunger and homelessness in BC; she has performed at fundraisers benefitting Free the Children; and, since 2011 she has supported, arts opportunities for youth through her on-going participation with Awkward Stage Productions. 2014 is shaping-up to be another exciting year. After releasing I Like You...or Something in January, followed by the EP early in the spring, Alyssa will be heading to Nashville, Tennessee, for a two- week induction into the world of music, Nashville-style. The summer will see her first Western-Canadian tour, with shows across BC and Alberta. You might also see her venture south, performing at venues in Washington and Oregon, USA.
