PAMELA JOY

PAMELA JOY

简介:Pamela Joy is a singer/songwriter from Australia who shares stories of mercy and faith in neo-folk rock fusion. The music is acoustic and electronic fusion with a hint of eastern instrumentation. There is a gentle edge (acoustic guitar, harp, Japanese wind, etc…) but these sounds sometimes walk with dirty bass and industrial percussion. Profits from the hannah’s child album supports survivors of human trafficking through Bloom Asia. After touring as the support act for Middle Eastern influenced folk band, Sons of Korah, Pamela toured her debut album, hannah’s child, with a band dedicated to raise money for the inspirational work her sister was doing in Cambodia with victims of human trafficking. Whilst successful in terms of helping establish what is now known as “Bloom Asia”, musically, she finished the tour knowing that she wanted to come back to Melbourne and record another album, this time with more experimental rhythms and sounds. This project is called l’aparela and the first singles have been released but the full album is still unreleased. Adding to the cast of talented musicians from hannah’s child (Anne Norman, Jayden Lee, Greg Hunt, Jacob Rissmann, Travis Easton,Mike Avery, Gareth Skinner and Rod Gear), I’ve been fortunate to work this time with Robert Sedky, Jeremy Alsop and Baker Street Studios for creative electronic elements and Allan Nuendorf once again provided his elegant touch on the recording of acoustic instruments and the production as a whole. The l’aparela album has Robert Sedky’s beautiful guitar and the input of Stu Hazelman (The Skylines and The Hazelman Brothers) on a few of the tracks. Background & motivation Pamela grew up in Queensland, Australia, writing most of her early music on riverbanks and under the trees without the influence even of a radio. Now she lives in Melbourne and enjoys fusing the expertise of the amazing artists found in this city with the rough but intense ideas that follows her from the country into the city… Pamela creates music to share stories of mercy and faith in chaos because “…my experience on this planet seems so confusing and disparate. It’s so good and difficult at the same time and it seems as if it’s been like this throughout history. When I ask why, what’s it all for and why do I have cravings for a better place without frustration and tears across the globe, the repsonse I get to these questions usually end up in a song…”
