Carrie Tree

Carrie Tree

简介:‘delicate, soulful melodies with poetic lyrics, that embrace the room with waves of emotion.’ Carrie Tree is a ‘phenomenal singer/songwriter’ – Carly Simon quoted in The Word Magazine Carrie has toured and/or collaborated with the likes of Damien Rice, Fink, Duke Special, Rumer, Carly Simon, Ben Taylor, Martha Tilston – even the prog rock band Marillion! She has been a known name on the UK alternative/green festival scene for several years playing regularly at festivals like Glastonbury, Sunrise, Shambala and Buddhafields, has travelled through many parts of the world with her music and regularly tours in parts of Europe. Brighton Source magazine said “Moving on from her domestically recorded 2009 debut ‘The Kitchen Table’, songwriter Carrie Tree headed to South Africa for this sublime new 2014 album ‘Home to the Invisible’ . Recorded with members of Ladysmith Black Mambazo and the late Miriam Makeba’s band, their contributions to the songs ‘Mama Kita’ and ‘Thousand Days’ stand out on this sparse, confident set of delicate but fiercely individual songs.” ‘XYZ Magazine (Brighton) says “BEST OF BRIGHTON LOCAL TALENT – CARRIE TREE – ”Ritzy Bryan’s (The Joy Formidable) vocal style awash with the chilled acoustics of Elbow. She has supported the likes of Damien Rice, Fink and Duke Special and is one of the most natural voices you may ever hear. We hope she’s working on new material. KILLER TRACK – Perfectly Cast” Brighton Source magazine June review of the Carrie Tree 2013 Perfectly Cast EP said, ‘The latest EP from one of Brighton’s more distinctive voices, singer songwriter Carrie Tree, is seriously hushed stuff. Taking a confident, less is more approach to both vocals and arrangement, Tree and her band play softly, the words frequently dropping to barely a whisper. The subtle electronic touches on the title track Perfectly Cast and momentary glimpses of strings and woodwind on ‘Misty Water’ and ‘Sweet Oak Tree’ are reminiscent of Bjork’s stripped back reinvention on her album ‘Debut’, filtered through an English folk sensibility.’ In 2013, Carrie performed on the new 2000+ capacity William’s Green stage at Glastonbury Festival along with bands like Alt-J and The Vaccines. Carrie was the featured vocalist on Andy Barlow from Lamb’s new project called Lowb which was released by Distiller Records in May 2013. The track called Compassion has been broadcast globally since 2010 on an advert which garnered more than 250,000 listens on Youtube and 150,000 on Myspace. The first single was a Carrie Tree/Andy Barlow collaboration called Inward Outburst. Carrie appeared with Lowb on the BBC 2 radio show of Dermot O’Leary for 1.6 million listeners and performed a live cover version of Glory Box by Portishead, (which has been recorded on Carrie’s 2014 album ‘Home To The Invisible’). Carrie is strongly involved in the production of her music and co-produced her 2nd album, experimenting with instruments and sounds from around the world, whilst wanting to keep the space and intimacy of the music. She is deeply passionate about the planet (she changed her performing name to TREE!), human rights and is involved with causes such as Amnesty International, Eradicating Ecocide and No Fracking.
