简介
Laura Wood is the lead singer of the Providence-based indie folk rock band, Janus Code (www.JanusCode.com). Her music can be described as a funky, folksy, bluesy, country, punk pop exploration of where rage and hope clash and combine. A member of the Rhode Island Songwriter Association and founder of the monthly event “In PeaceFull Rage,” Wood draws from diverse influences and experiences to use whatever she can to express and inspire. Laura Wood has performed in a variety of venues and circumstances, some favorites include: The Neon Soul Collective at the Providence Black Repertory Company, belting out Trip Hop and Deep House drama ballads (www.blackrep.org); Woman Spirit Rising – a feminist a Capella group (www.womanspiritrising.com); Big Nazo, a life size puppet-extravaganza (www.bignazo.com); and the Manton Avenue Project, bringing the creativity of brilliant mini-playwrights to the stage (www.mantonavenueproject.org). Laura has had the privilege of sharing the stage with artists ranging from Ember Swift, Pamela Means, and Doria Roberts to DarkFeather, Bahamadia, and Tortured Soul. A self-described Teacher/Preacher/RockStar/Revolutionary, Laura Wood has wowed audiences in every situation. In true Folk Rock style, Wood seeks to unite her talents and her passion to inspire, touch, enrage, educate and motivate audiences in an attempt to “activate the activist.” She’s also got real perty pipes and was born for the stage.
