简介

Ancient Romanian spirituality, the inspiration source of this album, is mysterious and little known, but impressive when studying the elements scattered in myths, fairy tales, and other forms of ancient, authentic tradition. Beyond the mundane there is almost always a hint to something more, only a hint, though. This is why, in order to enter that world, one needs much restrain, simplicity, good will, detached attention to detail, and a kind of readiness to dissolve in (or at least to obey to) the universal order - just the kind of attitude required to the listener of Ambient music and of this album in particular. For example, tracks nos. 4, 7 and 8 are inspired by legends about the sages in a parallel world who are praying continuously for the good of mankind and the planet (similar to the Shambhala myth). Tracks nos. 11 and 13 are based on authentic musical variants of a fundamental myth of the Romanians, which is an artistic reflection of a manly, secret initiation meaning that death was not real. Other tracks are based on ancient Romanian music, too (pre-Christian carols in tracks nos. 9, 12). The last track is an evocation of a Dacian city on the Danube, including an old, hypnotic dance from the region. The sound is sometimes vast and spatial, sometimes very restrained, and the music unfolds rather slowly, not quite minimalistic, but inducing a meditative mood not far from the atmosphere of some ancient ritual. Track no. 8 was included in the soundtrack of the short film "Tracking Happiness" by Mircea Cantor (premiered at Kunsthaus Zürich, Switzerland, on 27 August 2009).
